Good afternoon, everyone!
I graduated with MS in Statistics (4.0 GPA) and took several courses such as NLP, DL and Data Structures and Algorithms from CS department from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to land full-time job in USA, so decided to take the offer from Uber Amsterdam for Data Scientist role. This year I discovered new passion for Quant trading, I even got accepted to ICL and UCL for MS in Computational Finance. The tuition cost was high for me, so I decided to get some work experience first. My question is if I apply for New Grad roles in USA hedge funds/prop trading firms next year , will they consider my candidacy, as I will not be eligible for OPT anymore? Is it better for me to target UK hedge funds/prop trading firms, gain some experience and then apply for experienced role in USA? Does UK hedge funds/ prop trading firms hire people with US education degree ( non-Ivy League) for New Grad roles?
