Can anyone let me know how a high school student in commerce stream with Maths and informatics practices subject become a quant? I am desperate for this answer from someone who is well versed in it although i have done my own research but it is still confusing me..

I assume that you are Indian
According to my knowledge trying to get into ISI Kolkata for BStat or BMath would be the best shot

I am class 12 right now but I didn't prepare for that exam... Is it worth taking a drop one year and entering into Bmath program next year... I am sure one year is enough for me to crack their entrance exam... Also, in that one year drop is there anything I can study parallel with my preparation?

Worthiness totally depends on how bad you want to get into quantitative finance.
I don't recommend a drop although.
Reality is even tier 2 engineering college folks can't get into quant finance from India, only the cream of cream have high chances.
One last path would be to do BMath or BStat from your local university and later Masters from ISI or abroad if possible.
Do have a backup as with a commerce background it's really very difficult.

Actually, I purposely chose commerce stream since the subjects in commerce like economics, maths are much more related to quant finance.. My idea was to join a local reputed university for Bmath and then give the ISI entrance exam the next year and continue the Bmath program in ISI starting from second year.. But, I am not sure whether ISI will accept me from second year even after clearing their exam...

Also, If I am wrong in choosing my stream then how do people really get into quant finance. As far as I noticed, it is mainly through Bmath, Mmath, PhD in maths and financial engineering which I am eligible to pursue, right?

Quant finance is full of IIT/NIT/BITS grad in India as you require coding + quantitative ability (strong math)
Financial engineering graduates mostly are IITians as well
You will be eligible for financial engineering if and only if you have best profile (ie. Top 10% of your class, some math competition/olympiads medalist) and have completed multiple coding certifications

But, by getting into ISI if not for bachelor but at least for masters and then PhD in abroad, would I be able to make through the cut?

Yeah considerable
I guess ISI masters would be sufficient as I have seen some profiles going directly into trading firms as a quant after masters

As I asked earlier, will ISI accept me from second year If i cleared the entrance exam along with completing Bmath first year in a different university?

Do you have the option to switch to a STEM stream e.g. bachelors of science, after high-school? If not, I would explore other career paths.
