I have an interview this week with a hedge fund that specializes in "trading equity volatility with derivative products". Can anyone recommend some good reading materials on the basics of trading equity vol? It's an entry level position so I don't need to be an expert, but I would like to get familiar with some of the concepts and strategies before my interview. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure with those pure volatility exposures like variance swaps, but Sheldon Natenberg's Option Volatility & Pricing was the first book introduced to me when I wanted to trade options. Jim Gatheral (current Baruch director) and Nassim Taleb (author of The Black Swamp and Fooled by Randomness) also had a book called The Volatility Surface (not read it). Finally, Ricardo Rebonato's Volatility and Correlation seems to be a common textbook for volatility smile.

I'm not associated with any author mentioned above or their respective program / organization.
