Hello, this probably isn't the best place to ask all this but here it goes.
I'm from Portugal and I've been looking to apply to masters in Computer Science in the states, I would like to get into the University of Michigan. But I've been getting some emails from some schools(Carnegie Mellon, Illinois IT, John Hopkins, Boston University, Northwestern University) mostly from the Business Schools, because they got my GRE scores. I was wondering how many of those email this schools send out.
From Carnegie Mellon i got an invitation to apply to their MSCF program, and they offered a fee waiver, is this normal? what are the chances for someone that get a fee waiver?
Even though I was thinking doing something related with Computer Sciences this program appears to be interesting, and I do have a 5 year degree in Management from Portugal too.
Any help you could give me would be most welcome.

What kind of courses you have taken during your undergraduate degree? Specifically number of mathematics and computer science courses.Have you done projects/thesis in Computer Science or Maths related field? With a management background i am not sure if universities will consider you suitable for a hardcore Computer Science degree.
By the way,why this sudden interest in Computer Science?

I'm doing a Computer Science degree now (the actual translation would be Informatics Engineering), that's what I've always liked and I decided I should persue it. That's why I did the GRE, to apply for a Masters in Computer Sciences. So programming, mathematics and other relater engineering courses won't be an issue.
I was just surprised that I've been getting emails from business grad schools especially one with a fee waiver for the MSCF at CMU. I was thinking of applying to CMU/Portugal masters program(CMU has a dual masters program with universities in Portugal) but the MSCF sounds interesting and if they sending an email means I have a good change I might apply to this one also.

You got the email because you took the GRE and ETS (the company behind GRE exam) sells the test takers info to any program that wants to advertise. This is a common practice among MFE/MFin programs that are based off business schools. They send it to thousands of people so it's not like they target you individually.
Look at the bottom of the email, it would have something similar to this
"You may be receiving this email because you subscribed to the GMASS search service when you took the GMAT exam."

I have received plenty of these emails, but never have I been offered an application fee waiver. Is it possible that they are sending those out at random, or is there any chance that these email are sent out based on your score?

I received and email from Boston University congratulating me on having been recognized as a preferred candidate for their program. It was quite depressing to learn that a friend of mine, who had registered for the GRE but not taken the test, received the exact email.
