I have a slight hick in mind i have an admit from Columbia MSOR. I have read many post in this wonderful site but what i can get it most of the people dont consider MSOR to be a good program for jobs in finance industry.
Now for S&T most people argue that you need MBA and correspondingly for other good positions in finance industry you need FE.
So please tell me what avenues a degree in MSOR with FE concentration open for an individual. Where would this degree fit in. What kind of jobs can one expect and apply with this degree.

Would this help? I hope you looked at this page where they explain the career tracks most MSOR graduates have.
http://www.ieor.columbia.edu/pages/graduate/ms_career_information/index.html

Generally, graduates from the MSEMS program find positions in management and technical consulting, supply chain, operations, and marketing within global organizations. MSIE graduates obtain positions in manufacturing, engineering, operations, public utilities and services in global organizations and governments. The flexible MSOR program produces graduates who obtain positions in financial services, professional services, utilities, technology, manufacturing, and public and government sectors. Certainly, our graduates find positions in other industries as well given the flexible problem-solving skill set they possess.

Andy sir,
Thank you four reply i already saw this link but, this does not gives a clear picture. I talked to few students from previous batches some of them are quantitative analyst also and i read about finance guy on this website that he did very well and had great offers. We can surely take FE electives with MSOR this we know. But i want to know if one wants to end up in positions like S&T, quant , Risk. What subjects one should focus upon. I will join program in another 2 months may be i will get idea after that but i feel this is the right time and best place to ask this question. Does a CFA adds to the value for these positions or any good position into finance industry. It is really very difficult in todays market to crack a Finance job but still there has to be a way.

I guess a lot of people have similar doubts with respect to columbias msor with Fe concentration.. since it is an expensive course , what profiles and pay should one expect ..
Also this may be slightly off topic but I had this doubt... which is better mba in finance from say tier 2 b school or msor from Columbia ?
Also I c lot of people take MSFE after mba .. any take on that
