(Before I start, I live in Korea and I plan to go for MFE in the U.S. - apply to UCB at June, and
(re)apply to other schools at the end of this year. The specifics are here:
https://www.quantnet.com/threads/applying-for-ucb-2nd-or-3rd-round.19727/)
Hello,
I think I may get to choose between the two:
trainee position at Societe General trading
or
derivative pricing department in a Korean company specializing in bond pricing & quantitative solutions
I know the second opportunity links directly to studying at MFE, but others around me say a trading internship at a European bank would be a good selling point in getting a job - thus raising my chances for MFE and afterwards.
Their point is that working at a local company won't be a very good thing in the eyes of international firms
I know that having some working experience is crucial for MFE, since it helps to get a job in the field afterwards (which is what really counts in the end), but I don't really have much information to base my choices on.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
