  • Congrats on getting in to Wash U. I really want to warn you about their placement record, as they have placed kids at DE Shaw, Goldman and etc. since the program began 5-6 years ago. So just because one kid in 2006 got a job at Goldman they get to put it on their list. Take it from my experience: the Career Center here is a joke. The MBA/MSF programs don't even have a separate career fair or any real leg up over English majoring undergrads.

Not all is doom and gloom. The program is very quant heavy (I've taken some of the classes that are dual listed for MSF and finance majors) and the distance to Chicago is pretty reasonable, so if you've got the self-discipline to pound the apps and make a few drives north, you can probably land a trading job at CMEX or something if that's what you want to do.

What hall are you in at ND (almost went there myself)? My friend Brian Boll goes to ND, I think he is in Dillon hall.
I applied to LSE, MIT, University of Oxford, Princeton, Columbia, and Vanderbilt, of which I got into Vanderbilt only.

My GPA is probably what hurt me most, which I believe is bullshit since I've had a 3.5+ for the past three semesters. Hell, I've done three classes of graduate economics which is pure mathematics. Mistakes of the past come alive, should never have taken those chemistry courses my freshman year...
    Hey Matt,
I did not apply to Wash U's MSF program simply because I go there for undergrad and would like a little change of scenery. Nothing against our program, although I have several classes with current MSFs and they say placement is a joke and most wish they had picked other schools...

As for MIT, I have not gotten an interview but I don't think that's anything to worry about. How about yourself, where have you applied?
