C++ Programming for Financial Engineering

Very good and being from a non programming background....I think helped get a strong grasp in fundamentals.

I took the course because I had heard it would give a good foundation for programming skills.

I found the material to be good, while also requiring quite a lot of personal supplementation (which is fine).

I'm looking for a chance to enter the finance industry, so it would be helpful for me to learn more about c++, a robust programming language used in finance. Baruch college is also very prestigious in the quant field.

The course covers a wide range of topics in C++ and I benefit a lot from the course. I know the course from my friend, and as I plan to apply for an MFE degree, I want to enhance my C++ coding as it is essential in my future work.

This is a great course. I learned for the first time about OOP, memory management, libraries, and financial applications, and I feel comfortable talking about these more advanced concepts as well as implementing them. Since starting the class, I've even started using OOP at work for some data analysis projects.

I heard about the course from senior students. I took the course because as a non-computer science-specialty student, I lack training on C++ which is crucial to MFE application and my future career.

Thank you for providing this amazing course. I had no experience in C++ at all, but now I can read and write in C++, albeit rudimentary yet. What I liked the most about the course is that there are well-designed exercises for each level. I learned a lot doing exercises on my own, and even enjoyed them. Feedbacks of Avi(APalley) were brilliant. The comments were precise, professional, and meticulous. Forums were also very helpful and encouraging. The grading policy is well-designed that it provokes desire to get discreet certificate and extra points.

The course is certainly intense for someone with zero programming experience. The experience is overall pleasant. While I have procrastinated a lot during the process, the forums and TAs are really helpful.

I decided to take this course since I am going to apply for an MFE program. I got to know the course when browsing the Baruch MFE official site. I found the course very friendly to a beginner on C++, and equipped me with the essential understanding and practice on C++. It's really a good course for whoever want to study C++! I knew this course from my friend and I really learnt a lot!

I enrolled in the course for two reasons:
1. Become a programmer: I had some coding experience with Python and VBA. However, I wanted to become a better programmer and not merely a coder. This course has certainly helped me become a better programmer. Not only can I write efficiently designed programs but also I have become comfortable at understanding and debugging code. The course definitely introduces best coding practice. Last but not the least, I had heard great things about the TA support and I have had the pleasure to experience it myself. Along with being prompt at answering questions on the forum, my TA (Avi Palley) provided detailed feedback on the homework and guided me all the way to implement best programming practices.

2. Meet the programming requirements for MFE programs: I believe that this course is designed to prepare the students to handle grad school level programming.
