This course is harder than most of my university's courses but it has been excellent at teaching me the fundamentals of C++.
After taking this course I get a better understanding of object oriented programming and its applications in option pricing! It is very practical and useful, and the TA has been very helpful and graded my homework very carefully.
It is a really good course and I have learned a lot in it.
The course strongly enhances my understanding of C++ as well as my coding skill (By the way, never in my history had paid so much attention on the coding style) . The application on finance also makes the lesson more practical. The harvest has surpassed my original expectation for taking this course.
The course is worth taking! It perfectly fulfills my expectations to learn the C++ language and make some applications into financial engineering. Lecture videos are very instructive and notes are extremely detailed and helpful for me. Also, it's super exciting to communicate with the professor, TA and 'classmates' through this platform.
I like the assignments, they demonstrate the conceptions very clearly, which meet my initial expectation to this course. However, I have to say, the content regarding financial engineering should be more detailed, rather than simply run the code.
Yes. Thanks to professor and all TAs.
Quality of the course is very high and Dr. Duffy does a great job in keeping the content interesting and provides just enough details with pointers to further study sprinkled all over the course. Assignment coursework is the life and soul of this course as it builds the knowledge and skills ground up, and it gives the student a solid foundation to take on advanced projects. Avi Palley is a fascinating TA who will push you to master the required skill and I have learnt a great deal from him and hoping to learn more in advanced courses. I am confident now that I can use C++ during my graduate level coursework and beyond.
Video lectures are not updated enough. The tutors and forums are very helpful.
This course is cool and I learned what I needed
Of course, it meets my original goal. It gives me a solid foundation of c++, which will help me a lot in the further study.
Honestly, when I started the course I did not think I would be able to complete it as I had no prior coding background.
But the material is taught so well and the community is so helpful and especially TA Avi was of great help.
It was a lot of hardwork but all the effort is totally worth it.
It was a challenging course, but I did learn a lot of useful knowledge!
This course is very useful to lay the foundation of future programming study. It emphasizes
many details which could be easily overlooked in C++ programming. However, I think it could be more related with its application in finance .
When I evaluate a course, the two things I think about are baseline and the route to learn more. I will further articulate what I mean.. First, I hope to get a solid foundation so that when the time comes, I have the tools to reach out to topics outside the scope of the course and utilize the skills learned in the course to tackle said new problems. That is exactly how I feel about this course. I was able to develop a solid baseline that will set me up for being able to take my learning one step further in the journey of programming. Secondly, when I look at any good course, I can see how much I learned, but even better, I realize how much I do not know, but I now know the route I need to take to learn more. Which combined with the solid baseline previously mentioned makes this course worth every dollar, and all the more reason to take the advanced course as well, because that seems like a pretty clear route to me. I said all of this without mentioning Dr. Duffy, Avi Palley, Andy Nyguen, and Gong Chen. It would be disservice to not mention the combined efforts of all of them who along with past TA's have really made a great course, with a brilliant course forum to go along with it. Thank you to you all and I will be back in roughly 3 weeks to continue learning.
C++ course offered on QuantNet is of high quality, very helpful for those who wants to pursue further study or a quant career in the future.
It is a great course. I have learned a lot.
The course has good quality. The notes provided for each level are concise and well explained. The TA checks all your code and provides useful feedback, I liked that.
Excellent course, couldn't have asked for a better structure
Course is well designed and perfect to give you an introduction to c++. Final level with applications to finance gives a good understanding about how c++ is used in the industry. This course covers all the basics anyone would need to start using c++. Course has met my expectations and has helped me understand basics to start working in c++
