C++ Programming for Financial Engineering

This course really teach me a lot. I would like to take part in programming long before and this course give me a push to finish my decision. This course give students knowledge about C++ from the beginning to the mostly advanced method such as MC and FDM, it is really a great course for beginner to take in.

This course offer a comprehensive introduction of C++ for financial engineering, and I have learned a lot of practical materials which cannot be learned from the onsite classes. So I really recommend it to all students who want to take an occupation in FE.

The course really help me a lot with c++ and the TA is really helpful as well.

This is my first time to learn an online course. I think the course is very good and meets my goal completely. It not only covers those most basic and also important features in C++ but also provides some insights about C++'s application in computational finance, which is very beneficial for me , who has little FE background knowledge, to pursue master degree in FE. And I think the forum is also very helpful. My TA always reply my problem quickly and the staff are always ready to solve my tech problem. I think it is a great online-learning experience!

This course is good but hard.

I definitely enjoy this course. It is amazing that it can cover the core topics of C++ programming with just 9 lectures. The homework exercises are well designed and each of them installs a key concept. The quizzes are challenging and fantastic, which motivate me to dig deeper to truly understand the language. I really appreciate the teaching approach taken by my TA, which does not involve a lot of hand-holding. My TA never gives out the answer right away. Instead, he motivates me to think and search independently. I benefit a lot from this approach. Overall it is a great learning experience.

This course fits my need for understanding basic C++ very well. The structure of course is clear, the quantity of quizzes and homework is suitable. TAs are very warm-hearted to help us with any problem we have.

The course is absolutely wonderful. It starts with basic C language and finally reach BS formula, which is very helpful for those who have never known C++ before like me.

I think the course absolutely hits all the C++ fundamentals. However, I think the videos could be significantly improved. There should be more practical examples when describing concepts. For example, I found a YouTube video explaining pointers by using a metaphor with cubbies (i.e. a pointer points to the cubby, not the value inside of the cubby). I think more examples like this rather than simply talking through a deck would make learning much easier. I found YouTube to be a better resource to conceptualize new concepts.

This course perfectly meets with my expectation for a C++ course. The course starts with basics about C/C++ syntax and toolkits and gradually advances to the most important concept and tool in C++, classes. The chapter of computational finance is perfectly organized into a project, so that students are not overwhelmed with so much finance while getting an opportunity to leverage the skills they learn and realize a primitive application, which I particularly took pleasure in. Plus, the online quant community makes it extremely efficient and easy to get in touch with TAs and fellow students, posting questions, looking for materials, and reaching out for help. Generally, this is a wonderfully structured and organized course. And great thanks to all the patient and hardworking TAs.
