15 Reasons Your MFE Application Was Denied

I received D for Cal I and As for Cal II & III. This didn't cause much trouble in gaining admission to MAFN program. I just explained that I didn't take university classes seriously during freshman year (being 16).
So, Yunkai, make a compelling exlpanation for admissions board. Show the progress you made.
Thank you so much for your suggestion.
My freshman year scores are pretty low, which make my GPA not that impressive.

I am currently studying an MBA (1st year) at one of top 20 MBA programs in the U.S. and I am planning to change a degree from MBA to Master in Finance. My underlying reason is that I aim to learn the analytical fundamentals of modern finance and MBA in finance does not satisfy my curiosity. I aim to apply for the Master in Finance at Princeton and MIT. Do you think it is disadvantageous for me to restart the graduate program? or is it a "fundamental flag" in this case?

I have completed my B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering(Power) from IIT Delhi this May. I am currently working as a Software Engineer in a software firm. I want to work as a Quantitative Analyst in Finance industry.

I right now have a doubt whether (1 ) to go for a MFE Program like Columbia's, NYU, CMU's OR (2)look for a job in Finance.

I want to prefer the latter option to work and get some work experience before going for a MFE program but the problem is I am not able to find any good Finance jobs in India.

Second option is to go for MFE. I have GRE score of 320(167+153) and 3.5 in analytical section and Undergraduate GPA of 8.469. I have two recommendations from IITD profs(one Maths and one Electrical) + one from IIMB prof(Finance). I have one internship in General Electric and another internship in IIM Bangalore. Do I stand a good chance of getting into Columbia's, NYU's or CMU's program. I only wish to apply in top MFE programs of NYU, CMU, Columbia's. Also, I do not have any finance experience right now. So, it will affect my placements afterwards at Columbia.

I feel that working in Finance before going for this program might be more useful but I feel that there is a scarcity of good Finance jobs in India.

If anyone can suggest something, it will be very useful.
Thanks

There is a possibility of end up the same situation in (2) after you've done (1).
I would strongly suggest finding a job now, or at least an internship so you can be sure this is the type of job you want to do long term. MFE programs are always there for you.
I don't have a silver bullet for you to job. It's certainly as difficult now as you would with an MFE degree.

I have an internship in finance in a institute but not in industry. And I am pretty confident that I want to work in Quant Finance long term.

So, MFE degree does not increase your chances of getting a good finance job? I mean it will be that difficult to find a job after doing MFE as it is now?

I am searching for jobs in Finance. But if I do not find one by the time next term of a program(like NYU or Columbia's) starts, should I go for the MFE (if I get admitted to one)??
