Advice on academic/career plan needed

hello everyone,
Im from the UK
Currently studying an electronic and electrical engineering Beng
Im about to start my first year (out of three years)
I plan on doing a masters in financial engineering in the uk at imperial, UCL or LSE.
are these universities any good?
Then a PHD in the related field while also building a portfolio on github
I already have a good understanding in c++
Will age matter when i get recruited because i will be 26 by the time I complete all my further education.
