Hello everyone,

I would like some advice on my profile and how to navigate internship recruiting.

I am a senior (graduating May 2026) at Georgetown double majoring in math and economics and minoring in computer science. I have a 3.93 GPA.

My previous work experience is not quant oriented. I have had internships in the senate and in an elite law firm, as well as in wealth management.

I did not consider quant as a career path until my junior year, and I am afraid it may be too late for me.

My weaknesses are in my resume. I am decent at coding, though mostly DSA / leet code sorts of problems rather than query language oriented problems. My mental arithmetic, statistics, and probability is not a weak point for me either. My prep for internships hasn’t gone into full swing, but I have worked about half way through the Xinfeng Zhou quant interview prep book.

My goal is to secure a QR or QT internship for summer 2026 and hopefully convert to full time. My top choices are SIG, AQR, and Bridgewater internships, but I would honestly take anything.

Here are my questions:

I am out of cycle for this internship period (graduating May 2026, current cycle is for Dec 26 / May 27). Should I bother trying? Is this something I can work around or not?

How important is financial knowledge? I do not have much financial knowledge or previous financial work.

Are there specific places I should look for internships given a lot of the non ideal parts of my profile?

Any other advice I should know? All help welcome and appreciated.

Thanks!

Here is an excellent guide on how to prepare for internship. Hopefully you can learn and take actions to get better results.
My advice is to apply far and wide. There are thousands of financial firms that hire every year. Don't just focus on the ones that everyone else is applying.
