Application time, is there any difference?

Hi,

I am wondering for programs with only one deadline without several rounds, would it be at disadvantage if I submitting my application at later time compared to submitting earlier?

For example, is there any difference between submitting my application in November and in January?

Thanks in advance!

I know that some universities do not review all applications until the deadline has passed. So for those I dont think it matters whether you submit one day or 2 months prior to the deadline.

Secondly and most importantly, even if they're reviewing applications on first-in first-out basis and you've submitted later, as long as your profile impresses them, it doesn't matter. Giving an admit doesn't confirm enrollment so they would give out offers to anyone they find fit. This part is what I understood from following applicants last year and is my opinion. So don't worry too much. Dont delay too much either. Put up your best into every application and submit it when you're ready (of course, before the deadline).

Thx! Really appreciate it!

Some schools admit in multiple rounds. If they admit enough people from previous rounds (to fill the number of seats in the class), I imagine it would be tougher to be admitted in later rounds. However, keep in mind also that a lot more people apply in the earlier rounds, making them more competitive; so in the end, it kind of balances out.

Thanks a lot, man! This is really important information for me to know!

If you define the level of competition of an admissions round as the likelihood that you get in by applying in that round, later rounds are almost universally more competitive. It is typically harder to get in by applying in later rounds.

Thx! But, would that be the case that many people start to apply in the first round, then leave the later rounds fewer people?

I believe that happens in general, yes. Most applications come in the first round. Most acceptances also come in the first round.
