Hi everyone,

I have been following quantnet for awhile, but this is my first post.

I was wondering what your opinion would be concerning getting a MFE for a career in financial regulation. I have some experience in regulation (not very much, but some) and from what I can tell most regulators are either accountants or lawyers. After speaking with some people in the field and researching the subject I found that there is a growing opinion that regulatory agencies are "over-lawyered." Being that banks have become so quantatively orientated I can see how it would be almost impossible for a lawyer to provide "continous" regulation over a bank.

Accountants definitely have there role, and I plan on asking follow up questions to accountants in the regulatry field to get there opinion directly, but I thought it would be helpful to hear opinions from the other side as well.

btw, I am not saying I want to pursue a career in financial regulation, it is just something I am thinking about.

Thanks in advance.

Tom
