Hi,
I was recently going through the MFE admissions page of Baruch, there I came across these prerequisites mentioned by them,

Prerequisites. Applicants are required to have taken the following minimal set of courses:

  • Calculus (two semesters)
  • Probability (one semester)
  • Linear Algebra (one semester)
  • C++ (one semester or certificate)
  • Finance (one semester, or relevant work experience)
Only courses passed with a grade of B or better qualify as prerequisites.

The thing is that I have done my under-graduation in Commerce and Finance. I didnt have Calculus, Linear Algebra and Probability in my undergrad.

Does that mean I am already ineligible for the MFE program?

Also, is there is a way to become eligible for the program, by completing these above-mentioned topics now?

You need to complete them, otherwise you stand 0 chance to be able to follow the curriculum.
They are prerequisites for a reason.
You can however enroll at your local university and complete those courses.

Thanks for the reply.
I totally understand completing would be necessary. Not just from the point of view of being able to get admitted in the program but also from the point of view of my performance in the program.

But going back to university and doing these prerequisites would mean spending another 3 years doing it, before starting MFE.
I want to apply for MFE in the next year cycle.

Is there a way to complete the prerequisites in a years time, which are recognized by Baruch as well.

You can do the Pre-MFEs, but it will be tough for you, if you hadn't any exposure to analysis or probability theory.

I am ready to put in the extra effort and study whatever is necessary. My only concern is being able to be ready by the next application window.

So doing the Pre-MFEs offered by Baruch, should satisfy the prerequisite of "scoring B or above", in those topics (Calculus, Probability, Linear Algebra)?
