I got accepted to the above two programs. To be honest my career interests lie closer to investment banking or investment management instead of quant trading. Meanwhile, I do not have the relevant mathematical and programming skills needed for a quant. I applied to Columbia MSFE only because it is probably the most prestigious finance program in Columbia and my cousin is doing a PhD there. So I was not surprised when I was redirected to MSOR and I was in fact quite relieved by the more flexible course structure. So, which program would give me a better job prospective? If I would go for MSOR, which electives should I choose? Any idea on the relative competitiveness of US/UK job markets for international students? All suggestions are highly welcomed.
