I searched around for this topic but couldn't find it, sorry if it has already been beaten to death(new member here). Like many hopeful future MFE's, I need to improve my math skills before I even consider applying. I am looking into courses at colleges in my area (Washington D.C.) and online ones. I stumbled upon the University of Chicago 9-month online prep course and wondered if anyone has had any experience with it/can verify its worthiness/impart any other wisdom on me?

Thanks in advance

twess you should drop the administrator an email and find out the current syllabus and instructor names, and I can give you my opinion.

I emailed them, and a nice lady told me the following:
" 1) What is in the syllabus?
The courses and syllabi is under review. It is not available at this time. The courses are offered as a series. It is highly advisable to take one course/level before the next.
2)Who the professors are?
The selection process for the Prep Course professors have not been completed at this time. "
  1. In the sign-up sheet it mentioned this:
To get a head start, you can take a look at the following:
    • Matrices and Linear Transformations, Charles Gullen, or Outline Matrix Operations, Schaums, for Linear Algebra
    • Calculus (College Review Series), Elliot C. Gootman
    • Calculus: An Intuitive and Physical Approach, Morris Kline
