Changing Job from Technology to Finance

Hi,

I got a job offer in a social media technology company(Google/Facebook etc.) as a data scientist. My interest was in quantitative finance, but did not got any offer(from a mid level school). I was wondering whether it is possible to change job from this to finance later?

do you know why you did not get an offer from financial companies?

Decent ranked state school, not close to NY, Chicago etc. Good dept, but prof are not connected with the industry etc etc. Although that is my opinion.
