Hey guys I'm new here. But I just recently got into quant finance. I am currently a sophomore in my undergrad and I am a finance major and minoring in math. I wont complete my calc series until the end of my junior year so I wont have completed some of the upper level math courses that mfe programs want such as multivariate calculus, differential equations, and an upper prob and stat course until my senior semesters. I understand that applications are accepted in November. So my question is will it just be a waste of time applying to schools next year, the start of my first senior semester, without these upper level math classes? Or should I go and work for a year after my undergrad so all of the classes I will take will be on my transcript at the time of application? Or should I go to school for another semester to take more math classes to improve my chances? Which option would help me out the best at getting into a top program? Thank you and sorry for the long post that isn't really relevant.

probably want to make sure you get an interview first before worrying about it, but it's nothing to worry about

Hi All,

I have applied for CMU for round 1. Having gone through the tracker, I have found only a few cases of applicants for Round 1 in previous years. Hence I have not found my answer from the tracker.

Can anyone give me dates (even rough dates are okay) regarding:-

1. When do we expect to get an interview invite ?
2. Approx how many days after the invite is the actual interview held ?
3. Approx how many days after the interview do we get the decision ?

NOTE: For round 1,

a. Application deadline = Nov 12, 2012.
b. Deadline for CMU to announce decisions = Jan 31, 2013.

nice try, but from what i've heard:

1. could be as late as 2 weeks before the deadline to get an invite.
2. i heard you could schedule an interview date
3. there are some cases where the applicant asked the interviewer and was told of their decision on the spot. otherwise, just wait for the very day of the deadline.

Look at past CMU admissions threads and you could have some clues. Remember to share with us here!

Wondering about the 2013 admission process, I noticed that for the 1st and 2nd deadlines only 14 people, including me, have posted their applications in the tracker. It seems that in the 2012 round many more had posted their application status on the tracker.
Was wondering if it takes longer for people to post it on the tracker, or can we consider the number of applicants (at least considering the first rounds) trending lower?

It could be that the same amount of people have applied but they don't put there stats up as much as the previous class but it is probably the case that there is simply less applicants this year as discussed in the previous threads https://www.quantnet.com/threads/number-of-applications-for-fall-2013.12105/ and https://www.quantnet.com/threads/deadline-extensions.11955/. As an applicant this year, I see it as a positive.
