Columbia MFE to break into Algo Trading

I'm thinking of doing a concentration in trading systems and computational finance. I'm very interested in algo trading or even normal trading but I know jobs are crazy competitive. I have 0 work experience. How far will the Columbia name get me? Could I be shooting myself in the foot by trying to go this route?

did some stuff on trading system during course projects but I guess what you described here involves more algo trading things.....

still havenot receive anything after MSFE interview.....kindof worried......anyway, good luck ....
