Hey friends,
I was for a while very interested in Columbia's BS program (OR with a concentration in FE), since it's easier to get in than MS. I've heard there are even "guaranteed admission" paths for some liberal-arts-college students to transfer there.
However in Gordo Wardo's post Andy commented "undergrad programs don't prepare you for a quant career", so what's that program's significance? Get different jobs?
Or, say if I go there and finish the BS, is it easier and logical to apply Columbia again to get into the MS? I would think so and would believe it takes Much Shorter time since there is an overlap between undergrad OR(FE) curriculum and grad level. All I have to do is maybe spending an extra semester finishing the rest MS courses. Other than that I can't see any merit of it.
Any comment? Please... thx
