different base salaries

The title VP definitely does not mean you get paid the same, and different roles within a bank have differing requirements for the title. Where for quants it usually means a few years' experience, in larger, more hierarchical teams such as tech or operations it may mean that you have been heading a group of a few people for a couple of years.

Your base as a quant will definitely not be the same as the more highly publicized IBD, nor will it necessarily be the same as the quant sitting next to you doing the same job at the same level of seniority (in terms of a corporate title).

I understand: I specifically mentioned big investment Banks(GS, JP, etc) and I also understand that base does change even when title doesn't but usually it starts with the same number when someone gets promoted. So if everyone gets promoted at the same year to a new title, can I assume the base starts from the same value?

are there different salaries for the same title?

Having worked in quite a few different areas I've seen bases for VP range from $100k to $250k. Yes, BASE.

All in a range of about $115k -> $500k
