Econ major path to quant

I am currently in the final year of a BSc in Economics. I am aware that I lack the quantitative background of someone studying Maths, stats etc.

Due to not qualifying for a master’s in those subjects with my background, I have applied for an MScBA Business Analytics to increase my some quantitative skills, because is a very highly ranked university in my country for this, that I have a higher chance of getting in compared to others. Also due to the rolling admissions I had to apply earlier, meaning I will hear back the results of this before all my other options.

Having checked the curriculum, it covers a fair bit of advanced stats, ML, and management science (including Stochastic programming, Montecarlo, etc) but the rest seems too “businessy” to me to be taken seriously by quant recruiters.

1) Would it be worth rejecting the offer if it comes and trying my luck applying for Econometrics or something similar, at lower ranked universities, or should I accept it?

2) In general, what types of master’s programs could bring an Economics major up to speed to become a quant?

3) If I self-studied to catch up on the missing mathematical concepts and programming skills would this be taken seriously by companies? Supposing I accepted the offer.
