Electives

Is it a good idea to take some electives like astronomy purely for raising gpa? I know some schools that I talked to consider pretty much major average only. But even then, is it a good idea?

A higher GPA will never hurt, but make sure you've taken all quant related electives first, then consider others. It would be more worthwhile to do electives more relevant to what you want to get into, but if you have space, go for it.
