Conference on "THE AFRICAN PRESENCE & THE INFLUENCE ON THE CULTURES OF THE
AMERICAS," on Wed., Nov. 8, from 5:30 PM until 8 PM in NVC 14-220. The
event will feature a presentation on "A Daughter's Geography: The Poetics
of Diaspora, The poetry of Gwendolyn Brooks, Nicolas Guillen & their
literary children. Guest Speaker is FARAH JASMINE GRIFFIN, PhD. Dr.
Griffin is a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia
University. Some of her books include "Who Set You Flowin'?:" The
African-American Migration Narrative. (New York: Oxford University
Press, 1995.), If You Can't Be Free, Be a Mystery: In Search of Billie
Holiday(New York: The Free Press, 2001.)

Sigma Alpha Delta Honor Soc. are sponsoring a CANNED FOOD DRIVE beginning
on Mon., Nov. 6 on the 2nd Floor of NVC.

9. The BARUCH ATHLETIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE will be conducting a FOOD DRIVE
from Nov. 13 through Nov. 17 on the second floor of the NVC. They will be
collecting non-perishable foods (canned foods, rice, pasta, cereals,
etc.). Proceeds will go to City Harvest and be distributed to food
shelters and homeless shelters.
