I'm looking for some advice on getting back into a quant career. I worked for less than a year as a quant after completing a PhD in math. It was easily the best job I've had. The combination of modeling and programming was a great fit. Since that time I've completed a masters in economics and worked in academia. I am familiar with C++ but could use a refresher. I'm working as a PHP developer at the moment and feel the need to spend another 6-12 months in my current job. During that time, I would like to improve and refresh my C++ and prepare for a quant career. I'm looking for ideas on how to best accomplish this purpose.

Start networking and going to quant type conferences. Maybe reach out to other academics who you are close with and see if they have any connections on the street. Tough job market, but not impossible.
