Hi all, I am a CS undergrad with two internship offers: Goldman Strat (Quant) and Uber SWE. Can anyone tell me about how Goldman is viewed in the industry (among other quant firms) or the process of going from SWE to quant? Thanks!

Hm this one is hard to say...some buy-side quant firms (if that's your goal) prefer to see the former and some prefer the latter (SWE internships indeed do look good in applying to quant positions). I'd say go with Strat if you're really passionate about finance.

Which team is the GS strat offer in? That matters a lot. SWE to buyside will be harder compared to GS to buyside, if thats what your goal is. GS -> SWE switch will not be difficult if you want to make that switch in the future in case you dont like banking.

But do remember that GS is a bank, and it has a large no. of teams which do variety of work. If you can elucidate on what team you have an offer from, maybe I can comment better. If for example you are in the algo trading team, I would say its an obvious yes. If its some credit/model risk you might want to reconsider.
