hi all,

I want to apply for mfe programs, just wondering what you think is the minimum gre quant score for the top ~10 or so programs if an applicant has an otherwise strong profile?

I know the gre is used as rejection criteria rather than selection, but how low can you go without being screened and rejected solely because of the gre quant score?

Thanks

Just check the applicant profiles in Tracker. If you want more depth in your research, look for students enrolled to MFE programs in LinkedIn. There you can see their academic success and work experience in detail.

Coming from a top 5 MFE program, I can say that people who scored below 165 tend to do quite bad in all math classes. The GRE quant section is really easy, so if you are having problems with that, you will definitely have problems with math courses in any top MFE program. And it's pretty hard to get a good job even from a top MFE, when you are bottom 20 percentile of your class. Just my two cents.

I'm sure there are people who didn't do so hot on the gre for some reason or another but can prove their talent in math to be promising, perhaps though a combination of all the other application materials.
