I am a third year PhD student in Particle Physics from India. I became interested in equity markets here and started using value investment methods to invest in equities. I have been able to perform better than any mutual fund in India constantly for the last 3 years.
Recently I became interested in quantitative finance after reading "Physics and Finance" by Volker Zimmerman. I am a complete beginner with intermediate knowledge of Python, C++, Java and Mathematica. I have no understanding of Machine learning or Reinforcement learning at present.
My question is what skills I need to develop in order to be able to land an internship at a quant firm, typically in the role of quant researcher. I plan to devote the next one year to develop and hone my skills. Any suggestions such as books, online courses, topics to know, etc. will be really helpful. What i need is basically how to begin and what to focus on? Also is knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms tested and to what level?
