Hi all,

My uncle's friend attended a top MFE program. He minored in journalism in his undergrad days. He expressed interest in writing a guide to MFE book. It would discuss the steps that are important to get into these top programs. He asked me to post on quantnet and ask around to see if anyone would be interested. I didn't ask if he would charge money and i think it would be an e-book. So what are people's thoughts? :)

It's an interesting thought. I saw someone trying to sell an e-book about how to get a job after MFE before so I'm not surprised. A lot depends on the approach and idea. He can contact me for idea if he is serious about it.

There's definitely a (niche) market for a book like this. But ideally it should also cover the rapid growth of these programs over the last decade, what kind of jobs graduates tend to get, how congruent what is taught is with what is done in the workplace, what the employment and salary stats are, and what the future holds in store.

If the idea of writing the book is being entertained for pecuniary reasons, forget it.

bigbadwolf you have a point i should mention that to him! and of course some of the reason is money, i mean come on it makes the world go 'round.

The market is niche and the amount of careful detailed work required to make it a worthwhile book will be great. There's definitely a need for such a book ....
