UCLA MFE is a very young program so it does not a long history, or a large alumni network to draw comparison on. Being in west coast, it inevitably has to compete with other programs, most notably UCB MFE.
So I'd say give it a few years to form its own identity, draw its strength and improve its weakness. I think it has a lot of room to improve. It would be interesting to see how the resources from the Anderson B-School can be leveraged for the MFE program.
