Hello Quantnet,

Is it true that under US laws, F1 visa students cannot get paid work until completion of 1 full academic year (2 semesters)?

Is it any different for Canadians?

Thanks,
Bob

Thank you for the reply! Hmm, i couldn't find the word "paid", but a lot of "full-time"/"part-time" or "intern". So what does that mean?

Full-time 40/week
Part-time 20/week ( no need CPT, you are allowed to work 20 hours on campus)
Intern - Full time;
I am not quite sure about your question.

Sorry for the confusion. Does that mean those positions are monetarily compensated or no pay and just experience.

Thanks again

f1 students do not qualify for cpt application if they r not done with the first two semesters. paid on-campus work is fine tho
