Dear All,

Please share some insights and tips on the Interviews conducted by adcoms over skype or phone.
Generally what kind of questions are asked? Is it sufficient to prepare oneself with the general questions like Why MFE, Why that university, What makes you a perfect fit for the program.... etc etc. or do they focus on technical skills as well.

Frankly speaking I've been working for almost 2 years now. So evidently, I have forgotten Engineering Mathematics concepts since my job only involves programming. I can answer questions on C++ and Java though.

Please share your views.

Thanks !!

The range of interview topics vary widely from program to program. It can be two rounds, technical (math/programming/brainteaser) such as from Baruch MFE to an informal chat such as from CMU MSCF, MIT MFin to easy-ball one or two questions from Columbia MFE.
Obviously, checking out your English is another goal as well as seeing if you can speak convincingly about why you want to do MFE. Anything on your resume is fair game so it can't be rusty.

Go to the past discussions of those programs you apply to and read the interview tips.

Thanks for your reply Andy.

I tried to search in Quant Interview section but I could only find mathematical puzzles and brain teaser questions. I'm more concerned about the other questions like Why MFE at his point in your career? Why that particular university?... etc. Answers to these type of questions should be repetition of your SOP or do they expect something else?

If this has been discussed before, please point me in the right direction. I haven't been able to find so far.

The Quant Interview section is for job interviews, not MFE admission which should be under the Quant Education section.
For example, here is one where people share interview questions
CMU MSCF http://www.quantnet.com/forum/threads/anyone-got-the-cmu-mscf-round-2-interview-so-far.5837/page-3
Baruch MFE http://www.quantnet.com/forum/threads/baruch-mfe-interview.6015/
Columbia MFE http://www.quantnet.com/forum/threads/phone-call-from-columbia-mfe-admissions.5580/

Examples abound for other programs. Just do a search.
