I was wondering, how do big hedge funds or IB make their trades? What platforms do they use? I’m guessing they don’t use ally investment lol I’m new to this and just wanted to know.

I had read up on what these big hedge funds do. The thing is some of them have started investing in AI and MAchine learning and are actually hiring mathematics professors from ivy league universities so that they can use strategies which were earlier relegated to the academic studies. Bloomberg had once reported that MAN group has a hedge fund which is partially managed by AI. Of course, nobody is going out and telling the world which algorithms they prefer or how complex the code is, but the general consensus is that Machine Learning and AI are becoming more and more important for the financial industry and thus, the demand for computer science students (and even professors) is increasing.
