Hi all,

I will be joining a bulge bracket in India as an analyst with the Market Risk Management team straight after under grad. I wanted to know about the future career options and exit opportunities I would have after 2 years into this job. Is it possible to switch to the PE or Hedge Funds after that without doing an MBA? Or will I be tagged as a career banker after 2 or 3 years at this place if I dont study further?

Sorry, if I sounded unsure about the job at hand but I wanted to make an informed decision. I have a few other options to pursue if this does not appeal much.

if you want to get into PE/VC in India, you will need to get an MBA from top 5 school in USA (H/S/W/Chicago/Sloan). Blackstone and Carlyle will only hire H/S/W MBAs.
You can get a job in IB from IIM-A,B,C provided you are in the Top 5% of that batch.
You can get a job in Management Consulting (MBB) from IIM-A,B,C provided you are in the Top 25% of that batch.
If you have IIT degree, you may be able to get a quant job right now and get 5 years experience before you do MBA or MFE from Top USA school. The best jobs you can get from IIT are Google, Facebook, Samsung, Microsoft, GS (India office), Barclays. If you can land one of these for a few years, it will give a good experience.
