Hi all,
I am currently a numerical math phd in a 2nd tier US research school. I was planning to graduate and get my phd degree in August and get into one of the top MFE program this year. However, I become confused after I was informed that I got an intern opportunity in a big name company (like Goldman Sachs).
The internship is in a financial engineering department and it's about 2 and a half months. If I went for this intern, I would not be able to graduate due to the CPT restriction for a phd student. Also, I don't want to use the OPT at this point since I am hoping to use the OPT after graduating from MFE.
Is there any way to get around this? If not, should I graduate and get into the MFE, or should I go for the internship and postpone graduation (also likely the MFE)?
Thank you for any advices!
Best,
