MFE for Career in Energy/Cleantech?

I'm considering an MFE or a Master in Data Science. I have 8 years of experience in business intelligence, data science, and data engineering roles in both the energy and tech sectors. I studied finance in undergrad, so the MFE option would be more of a commitment to prepare for. I've also considered an MBA. I think I would benefit more by going more technical at this stage in my career.

Does anyone here have a perspective or intuition about opportunities for MFE graduates in energy and cleantech? What should I consider before committing to this route? I'm viewing it as a longer-term investment into a market that is in a stage of infancy as regulators loosen their grips to allow AI and energy storage to take hold.

Thanks for the response. Would you recommend the same for someone specifically interested in energy markets? Working in risk, portfolio management, or project finance for a portfolio of grid assets or energy consumers?

Maybe not a full OR program, but something that will help you understand locational marginal pricing. The ISOs (check PJM) have online courses, as well.

Depends on what you aim to do in that domain -
If you want to trade energy commods, risk manage portfolios of energy assets etc. MFE could be an appropriate choice.
If you want to go via the energy policy route, I think there might be other courses better suited for that.

Have you considered doing an MBA but with electives focussed in this domain. Best of both worlds.
