How to land an internship and job during grad school without work experience? Can entering a top 20 school get me a job in a hedge fund, and how important is the reputation of the school in landing a job?

Quick self-check: can you get into the top MFE programs like Baruch, Princeton where acceptance rate is <10%?
If not, then forget about getting a QT/QR roles where the acceptance rate is < 0.1%.
First step would be to recognize that QT/QR roles are extremely rare to obtain, especially for fresh MFE without work experience or extraordinary ability or skill. Stop obsessing over this kind of roles and try to find something where you can meaningfully contribute to the business.
What knowledge or ability you have that gives you advantage over the other 1000s MFE graduates.
Skill to learn and master is programming. Learn C++ and/or Python, be good with database, learn about the industry and roles so you can contribute on day 1.
