MIT MFin MIT MFin Admission Discussion

True..50% :).. But still.. You would only be scared where you see some hope!

I see you had ur interview on 3/30..so how did it go?

My take is that there is very little you can gleam from a 30 minute interview beyond whether a person has basic social skills and if they are somewhat close to what they projected in their application. Perhaps adcoms have a different take (and probably put more stock in the predictive validity of behavioral questions than I do) but I don't think an interview will significantly impact one's candidacy except at the extremities, both performance-wise and candidacy-wise.

That commentary aside, I thought it went decently but it was markedly different from the "corporate" style of interviewing that I'm used to. They didn't address any specific issues with or questions about my candidacy, which reinforces my belief that they're really testing for what I mentioned above.

They're probably still there, but there's a handful of them -- definitely fewer than 5. If I said 146, that was probably the total including the test entries. The 150 figure is just an approximation from memory.

Thanks for the info.

Hey guys. i submitted my application on the 15th of March for round 3. i havent heard from them yet. Anxious :( :( I am a CA from India with pretty good acads

Round 3 decisions have apparently been released, and it looks like there are 23 new names.

Presumably, you could figure out who among the list is attending if you sift through everyone in the directory and check for a @mit.edu account, but I'm not going to do that.

@ aaron: where did u find this list?? Have the decisions been conveyed to all the selected candidates??

MIT students can see the internal directory. I don't know who has received their decision (they might be officially released this afternoon/evening). A few people have received a call (check the tracker), so I am sure not everyone has been issued a letter yet.

Just 23 ? :O
It's not terribly surprising since the class size is intended to be 120 and almost 170 people have now been admitted. It's still possible, I guess, that not everyone has been added to the list, but I wouldn't be hopeful.

I'm willing to bet that with most other elite programs having already finalized admissions, MIT expects round 3 applicants that are admitted to accept the offer, which reduces the amount of offers that they will send out.

The offers have been made, one can check through this link

A special website has been put up to host information related to the offer, but so far I haven't been able to find anything there, guess it's still being worked on.

Congratulations to those who made it, and looking forward to meet those of you who'll accept :)

Any of the wait listed folks received updates like last time ? It's such a long wait :) looks like they won't get to the wait list as they have like 170 admits issued. Share your thoughts....

Has any waitlisted candidate heard back from MIT Admissions team? I had been waitlisted in R2 and have not received any decision since then. Thanks.

This thread is intended as a place where you can post your interview invites for MIT Master of Finance program, so other people may know when to get their auto-refresh addons for their web-browsers online and when to give in to the crushing despair.

Please post your round and the date and hour you received the invite at.

Thanks in advance and good luck to you all.

hey..have u received the interview invite..when is your interview.. can u share your profile please..

No, I haven't received the invite yet.

This thread is just intended for just allowing all MIT MFin applicants to see when R1 invites and onwards start, when people actually start receiving their invites etc.

ok thanks... they are expected to conduct the interviews in first week of dec.. so i presume it should be coming this week or early next week.. lets see...
