MIT MFin MIT MFin Admission Discussion

Just receive the call...... But I'm in 12-months program. I kind of regret this choice but I know if I applied the 18-month program, I would probably not receive its offer. Anyone knows is it possible to transfer from 12-month to 18-month?
congrats and is 18 month better than 12?

I would say there's a tradeoff. For the 18-month you will have more time to explore side projects and diverse classes (maybe even cross register for a class or two at Harvard) but you have to pay the extra $30,000+ and enter the job market at a less convenient time.

thanks. were the 5 questions MC or short questions require calculation steps shown ? Given this year interviews are going to be on zoom, wondering if it will be the same as before ....

Not multiple choice - you had to show calculations.

what you mean by "The admit team will give you the exact answer, I'm sure."?
If you ask the admissions team what the layout of the assessment is, I'm sure they will give you a more complete answer than I can.

The maths test isn't much to worry about, to be honest. It had some basic calculus, probability, functions etc. And even if you can't answer everything 100% correct (I couldn't), it is just another data point for them.

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has received their interview invitation for the MFin program at MIT. They said they would be conducting interviews in late January. I assume they had to send out invitations by this week?

I think they said that they will be rolling out interview invites in late January, given that there's another 4 days in January I would just be patient :^), guessing interview invites will be later this week or sometime next week

They did mention on some of their Q&A webcasts that because all interviews will be done via Zoom they will give candidates less notice than usual (i.e. less than the 2 weeks notice they have known to give in previous years). This could also contribute to the delay as there is less rush to get back to candidates in time for them to plan.

By the way, does MIT's program offer multi-round applications this year? I don't think I saw different rounds ddls on the website but there are posts about different rounds interviews in the forum...

From my understanding, there was only one application round this year with a deadline of January 5th. In previous years I believe this was different.
