Hi,

I got recently accepted in UCB MFE. However, they asked me to complete a coursework in the following before joining them in Spring 2018:

- R,
- Python,
- Machine Learning, and
- C++.

MOOC/Coursera courses are acceptable for this requirement (as long as I choose a course that offers a certificate of completion). Do you guys have any recommendation for these?

Thanks.

Python - Introduction to Computer Science (edx/ MIT)
Machine Learning - Andrew NG (coursera) or machine learning specialization on coursera
R - The Analytics Edge (MIT) ; Explore and summarize data (coursera)

Thanks for your answer! I only found trouble with R courses; The Analytics Edge is no longer offering a certificate and I couldn't find the other one. Do you have another one?

I'm really interested in UCB's MFE program and I'm just wondering when you were accepted did you have prior programming knowledge/experience in R, python or C++?

I had some prior programming experience in R, Python and Java but my main knowledge was in MATLAB. Hadn't any experience in C++.

Baruch just offered a Python for Financial Engineering as part of their Pre MFE package, its about 750 though.

Thanks but I finally took the edx/MIT course mentioned by alenPavlovic.

@mflopeza how did you manage to get accepted even without having some prerequisites?
I'm also interested in applying but I didn't do some prereq courses

These are the pre-requisites and this is the key:

"Please note that you do not necessarily need to complete all of the coursework prior to submitting your application, but you do need to have a clear plan in place to complete the coursework between the time of application and the time the program begins."

I am just wondering about whether the university will accapt online courses provided on MOOC or COSERA. One of my classmates says that some university do not recognize those courses. I am applying for Columbia Mathematic of Financial and Michigan quantitive finance and risk management. Begging for answers whether these universities will recognize courses on MOOC or COSERA.

In some subjects, Berkeley accepts a MOOC.
