I'm a fourth-year applied math PhD student at NJIT with a research focus in fluid dynamics and their applications to tissue engineering. Post graduation, though, I don't want to go into academia, but instead I am thinking about trying to be a quant. I have a basic idea regarding what programming languages I need to learn and along with that I'm trying to think of what I would need to do. I'm going to take some finance classes at school such as derivatives, time series analysis, and systems simulation, but I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to something else I might do to try and better prepare myself and make myself more marketable. Is my plan of action reasonable and/or feasible?
