I am currently pursuing a degree in Mathematical Finance as an undergraduate in a local university. I am interested and really considering a career as a quant and ideally would hope to do a msfe as soon as I graduate.
My degree despite its name contained very little finance application its mostly mathematics (at least till now) so any advice on the level of knowlegde in finance required to be a quant, what programming languages you need to be learn ( I currently have very little programming skills) and anything else I should do within the next two years to be a better applicant for a msfe or basically to become better suited to be a quant would be appreciated! In addition if I am to work by tge time I finish off this and I start a MS what work experience would help?
Also is there any difference between Financial Mathematics and Financial Engineering? I have seen that many UK based ms programs (UCL LSE etc) use the former.
Thanks
