Hello!
I would greatly appreciate if you could tell whether I have good chances for the MS in Actuarial Science program in Columbia.
Here is my profile:
Degree: BA in Econ senior year, History minor
CGPA: 3.74/4.00
IELTS: 7.5 (taking another test in November)
GRE: 162 Quant, 158 Verbal, 4 AWA
Math background: Calc I, taking Calc II and Linear Algebra, planning to take Calc III and Probability
I have contacted Admissions Office: they do not have official data on acceptance rate and the majority of admitted students score 160+ on GRE Quant part. I am not sure whether I can believe statistics provided here.
One of my professors told that I might have good chances because the program is quite pricey and not many people apply. Is this true?
P.S. I am aware that one can become an actuary without a degree, but I would rather have a degree, especially from such university.
