Profile Evaluation For MFE 2022/2023

Hi all,

Could you please let me know if I'm being overambitious?

Education: Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from top 3 NIT in India (Among top 10 colleges in India (maybe?))
GPA: 8.75/10
GMAT: 750 (49 Quant, 42 Verbal)
TOEFL: 115
Work Experience: 2.5 years at a top financial industry firm (think GS/MS). Worked in a role where 20% of the work was modelling, 80% was programming
Status: Indian citizen

Tech Stack:
Java, C++, Python, SQL, Excel, Big Data

Applying to (only):
- UCB MFE
- CMU MSCF
 
Why did you take the GMAT? Were you planning on applying to an MBA at one point? Most schools prefer the GRE, so I'd suggest taking that instead. You want to get at least a 165 on the quant part and don't bomb the verbal part, schools care less about it but still check it. TOEFL and GPA seem good, I think a 8.75/10 is about a 3.5-3.7 in the USA, and that TOEFL score is about the 95% rank, so that's within the range that these programs look for. I don't know if MFE programs really care about work experience, but it'll give you something to write about on the entrance essays. So, overall, I'd say you have a good shot at these schools.
