Hello everyone,

I’ve been exploring Master’s programs in Quant Finance and would really appreciate your feedback on my profile. I understand that each program looks for different strengths, but I wanted to get a general sense of how competitive I might be for programs such as Baruch, Princeton, and CMU, and where I should focus on improvements before applying.

Background:
  • Undergrad: B.A. (Hons.) Economics, Hindu College, University of Delhi – [GPA 9.473 /10 (US Equivalent 4.0 as per WES), topper of the college, rank 2 in the University

  • Econometrics (regression, time-series, causal inference, panel data)
  • Advanced Game Theory (multiple courses), Financial Economics
  • Microeconomics (multiple courses)
Test Score:
GRE:
327 (157V, 170Q)

Programming:
  • Limited exposure so far: some experience using Stata and Python for research papers
  • Currently working to strengthen programming skills; plan to enroll in QuantNet’s C++ course immediately
Work Experience:
  • No direct quant-finance work experience
  • Internships in finance roles, Research Assistant at a top global university
  • Formal teaching experience in economics for CFA candidates
Target programs:
  • Baruch MFE, Princeton MFin, CMU MSCF, UC Berkley, MIT MFin
  • Also considering select programs in Europe and Singapore
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read through my profile. I really value the perspectives of this community, and any feedback, even if critical, would be very helpful in guiding my preparation and applications.

Seems like a strong profile. You just need to take some time-proven steps to strengthen your profile.
Definitely take the QuantNet C++ course. You would have to take it as a condition to admission to many top programs anyway. A lot of CMU MSCF admits completed it as required.
Spend quality time research the programs here on QuantNet. Read the reviews and reach out to last year members who are in the programs. Many will share their views candidly and helpfully.
Apply far and wide. Target top UK/EU/Asia programs as well. You need to hedge your bets given the current political climate in the US.
Make a strong application by knowing the industry, the programs and where you want to achieve. It's a matching process for programs as much as you.
