Questions about where to take prerequisite courses for MFE programs (multivariable calculus & probability)

Hello,I'm Kaito from Japan

I am planning to apply to MFE programs at Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, and NYU. However, I am missing some prerequisite courses, specifically multivariable calculus and probability.

I found that NetMath offers multivariable calculus courses but does not provide probability courses.

Could you please recommend any online courses where I can take both multivariable calculus and probability for credit? Alternatively, is it a good idea to combine NetMath for calculus with another online course for probability?

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you very much!

Johns Hopkins offers excellent (and rigorous) courses. I've taken all my math prerequisites there, including Probability.

If you've already completed your BS/BA, you'll receive a significant discount on tuition.

Thank you so much for the great information, houseofjiao.

Regarding probability, I noticed that Johns Hopkins offers a course titled Introduction to Probability. Do you think this course would be sufficient to fulfill the prerequisite for a Financial Engineering master’s program?

Also, if you don’t mind sharing, which Financial Engineering programs did you apply to using this math credit, and how many offers did you receive?

100%. Just take a look at the syllabus - the topics are comparable to any rigorous Intro probability course. It's offered by their mathematics department.

I haven't applied to any programs yet, as I'm still completing prereq's. I'm enrolled in Calc III/ODEs for Fall 2025 (also at Johns Hopkins). If all goes well, I'll apply to Baruch's pre-MFE courses for Spring 2026.
