Real time performance measurement system architectures

Hello All -
I would like to know what are so of the performance measurement systems that are widely used in HFT systems?
I am not looking at measuring messaging system performances, rather i am looking to accurately measure the performance of my apps. Some of the KPI's that i want to capture via my systems is "Time to market" et al.
All pointers are welcome.
