"Also, it's pretty far away from NYC, so it isn't like firms come running to recruit Rutgers students when the train trip takes an hour and a half, as opposed to 20 minutes up to Columbia or Baruch or just 5 to NYU."

Utter crap! You can get to New Brunswick from Penn Station in as little as 45 mins.

Also, proximity of a college to wall street has very little impact on recruiting. Firms still recruits at Princeton or do they not?

I just received offer from Rutgers MSMF and UIUC MSFE...
Could anyone give me any opinions on these programs?
And which one is better?
Thanks!

which one is better in terms of what?

Wouldn't you know this better considering you applied to these schools after doing your own research about them?

No, that's what Quantnet is for, to do research for me.

in term of placement, curriculum and job-finding...
UIUC MFE first group of students have not graduated yet. We have one current student there posting on our site and blogging for us.
Rutgers MSMF on the other hand has been around for years. Even though, Rutgers introduced a third master program this year (FSRM), the MSMF program should have built enough resource to give you some decent chance of competing.

And they are at two different location. If you like to work in Chicago, then your best bet is UIUC which you will have to compete with U of Chicago MSFM, IIT graduates.
If you target the NYC area, then you will have to compete with other Rutgers graduates, Baruch MFE, Columbia's 3 programs, NYU MSFM, CMU MSCF, Fordham.

You basically compete with every graduate in this country for a job on Wall Street. It doesn't get any tougher here. And being in NYC gives you an advantage. You can't angle for a job by spending most of your time a timezone away.
